Inventory Forecasts
Projected depletion, days of stock, and low-stock warnings from trailing sales velocity.
Forecasts estimate how long current on-hand stock will last based on recent sales at each location. GreenSails rolls forecasts nightly using a trailing sales window, weekday seasonality factors, and each item's current ledger quantity.
Forecasts are reachable from the Inventory hub and
require items:view or locations:view. The page is not a separate sidebar
item, use the hub card or command palette.
What each forecast shows
For every tracked item at a location:
- Current quantity: Ledger on-hand from the location stock sheet
- Average daily usage: Derived from order line history in the forecast window
- Days of stock remaining: Current quantity divided by projected daily usage
- Low stock flag: When days remaining falls below the policy's
lowStockDaysThreshold
Only items with track stock enabled in the catalog participate in forecasting.
Low-stock alerts
When a forecast crosses the low-stock threshold, GreenSails creates a forecast_low inventory alert with a deduplication key so the same item/location/day does not alert repeatedly.
Threshold defaults to 7 days and is configurable per org or location in stock taking policy.
Using forecasts operationally
Review the hub
Sort by lowest days of stock to prioritize reorders or transfers.
Filter by location
Compare high-velocity venues against slower ones before placing purchase orders.
Cross-check alerts
Open related alerts when a forecast
line looks wrong, drift may mean the ledger needs a count, not a reorder.
