POS Stock Counts
Count inventory on the floor during an open count session, reorder the walk list, save offline, and close as a manager.
When back office opens a count session, floor staff enter physical quantities on the POS count screen. Counts sync to the linked snapshot and feed variance reports and alerts.
Accessing the count screen
- Hub shortcut: Appears when a session is open for the terminal's location
- Direct navigation: Open the count screen when a session is active (requires a signed-in operator)
If no session is active, the screen explains that a manager must start one from the dashboard, with a button back to the hub.
Counting workflow
Load snapshot lines
The session pulls expected lines from its snapshot. Each row shows item name, product code, and expected quantity.
Enter counted quantity
Type the physical count in the row input. Progress in the header shows
how far you are (counted / total · N% complete).
Save lines
Each row saves when you leave the field or press Enter. Balanced lines highlight green; variances highlight red with a +/- difference. Saves stay on the register immediately and upload when online.
Manager close
Managers see Close count on the count screen after review. Closing from POS returns to the hub; managers can also close from the dashboard.
Open, in-progress, and review sessions accept edits. Closed sessions show quantities as read-only.
Walk order (managers)
Managers can reorder the count list so it matches how staff walk the storeroom:
- Drag rows into the order you want
- Reset to location default restores the location's saved walk order
- Update location default saves the current order for the next count at this location
Offline behavior
Count line updates follow the same offline-friendly pattern as orders:
- Saves persist on the register immediately; offline you may see a short confirmation that the line will sync when online
- Unsynced lines push on reconnect or on the regular background sync
- Large gaps between register stock and cloud records may raise alerts until you finish a count
Permissions
Floor cashiers can enter counts when a session is open. Close count on POS is manager-only. Managers can also close from the dashboard when their role allows it.
Stock drift warnings
If register stock looks out of date, you may see a drift warning on the hub. Run or finish a count session to bring records back in line.
