Kitchen Ticket History
Search, filter, and review kitchen tickets from the dashboard, including status timelines and item-level done events.
Kitchen ticket history is the manager's audit trail for everything that happened on the cook line. Every ticket fired from POS, every bump, and every item marked done is stored with timestamps and appears in a searchable journal under Sell → Kitchen tickets.
The history page is for dashboard users with kitchen display view access. It is scoped by location when your access policy restricts which venues you can see. Service accounts cannot open this page.
Walkthrough: Investigating a Ticket
Open Kitchen tickets
From the dashboard sidebar, go to Sell → Kitchen tickets. The list loads the most recent tickets with infinite scroll as you move down.
Filter the list
Narrow results using:
- Search: order label or station name
- Status: new, in progress, ready, completed, cancelled
- Location: single venue or all accessible locations
- Date range: start and end dates
Filters combine. Use them together to find a specific rush window or station.
Open ticket detail
Click a row to open the detail sheet. You'll see:
- Order label and station
- Current status
- Timeline: created, each status change, item done/undone events
- Line items: quantities, names, modifiers
Jump from an order
Alternatively, open Orders → pick an order → Order detail. The Kitchen tickets section lists every ticket for that order with mini-timelines and a View all link that opens history filtered by that order.
Timeline Events
The timeline captures the lifecycle of a ticket on the line:
| Event | Recorded when |
|---|---|
| Created | Ticket fired from POS order |
| Status changed | Each bump (new → in progress → ready → complete) |
| Item done | Cook taps a line item on the KDS board |
| Item undone | Cook reverses an accidental done tap |
Bringing a completed ticket back to the live kitchen board is not available in the dashboard yet. Use this history page to review what happened; recall onto the board remains API-only for integrations.
Use the timeline during shift reviews to spot bottlenecks, long gaps between "Created" and "In progress", or between "Ready" and "Complete", often reveal expo or staffing issues rather than prep problems.
Status Reference
| Status | On active KDS board? | In history? |
|---|---|---|
| New | Yes | Yes |
| In progress | Yes | Yes |
| Ready | Yes | Yes |
| Completed | No | Yes |
| Cancelled | No | Yes |
Access & Scoping
Dashboard users need kitchen display view access to open the history list and detail. Users who can manage kitchen tickets may perform related actions elsewhere in Sell. Location-scoped policies filter both the list and detail views to venues the user is allowed to see.
